Our collaborative process welcomes creative folks in varying stages of becoming — making space for us to do some stuff we’re already good at, practice things we want to be good at, and encourage each other to embrace our mysterious multitudes.
We love stories, parallel play, learning by doing, and the way that the light from our sun illuminates our earth. We believe that we’re together because the stars have willed it, and we cherish the time we have together. We trust that good things take time, and that at the end of the day — it’s all about each other.

Joy is a community-focused textile artist, slow fashion designer, taurus, and lover of all things green and growing — who never thought she’d have to be a founder. But after traveling through too many creative workplaces that prioritized pretty much everything over people, she created Chores as a little oasis for herself and her friends. Her art and design practice uses clothing as a medium for investigating self, society, culture, and how it all connects. She believes deeply in the cumulative power of everyday efforts, and crafts intimate spaces — clothing and gathering places — to support those who work to build a more just and beautiful world.
Shaina Yang is a writer and architect, spending her days and nights building houses and stories about home. Moving through life like it’s one big worldbuilding exercise - or perhaps a hundred overlapping small ones - her chequered present includes affordable small-scale housing design, novel writing, and furniture design for animals. In 2021, she was named Wallpaper* Magazine’s Rising Star for Architecture for her work on housing for the body in a wheelchair - the most proud she’s been of having her name published in a print magazine since Britain’s leading right-wing rag The Spectator named and shamed her for “militant anti-racist feminist activism” back in 2015. Today, Shaina is a licensed architect in the State of California, where she lives with her husband Gwilym and her cat/bear Cora in sunny Los Angeles.
Nicki Cherry creates sculptures that are active sites of growth and decay, grappling with the psychological and physiological turbulence we experience within ourselves. Their work embraces the awkward and absurd to explore the frequent discomfort that comes with being a body. After initially studying to become a particle physicist, Nicki received their BA from the University of Chicago in 2014 and their MFA from Yale School of Art in 2019. Nicki's work has been presented internationally at venues including MAMA Projects, The Bronx Museum, and NARS Foundation (New York); Capsule (Venice, Italy and Hong Kong), the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts and Slow Dance (Chicago). Nicki lives and works in Queens, New York.
Anna Letson is a multidisciplinary artist and maker bouncing around Brooklyn, NY. Primarily a photographer, she specializes in portraits and brand imagery that captures people and things in their truest light. When she’s not behind the lens, she’s in the ceramic studio covered in clay, dreaming up a new hands-on project, or in the kitchen scheming up a fish dish or sweet treat (anyone got some edible flowers?). She’s big on light — how it bounces, glows, and shines through — and on small joys, like basking in the sun or smelling the flowers. You should ask her to make a dove sound.
Ying Chen is a multidisciplinary maker and artist and a rare creative who enjoys working with numbers. Ying can find flow in throwing a pot at the wheel just as easily as reviewing line items in a cost sheet. With a balance of creativity and analytical thinking, Ying is drawn to disciplines that are both technical and artistic, approaching work with curiosity, precision, and a focus on learning. Ying works primarily with fabric, watercolor, acrylic inks, and clay. Ying is currently dabbling in leatherworking, woodworking, and film.
Renee Chang is a designer of products and visuals, connector of people, and curator of all the good vibes. (“Can Renee also strategize my life? Because she’s doing such a great job with Chores.” —Echo) She thrives in bringing creative concepts into life, whether that’s through a photoshoot or dinner party. When she’s not doing her Chores you’ll find her writing/reading on Substack, strolling around Fort Greene park looking longingly at cute dogs, or probably halfway across the world.
Echo Yun Chen is a multidisciplinary artist making things with her hands in Brooklyn, NY. Some themes in her work are explorative play, child-like wonder, and the nostalgic magic of the everyday. On any given day you’ll probably find her driving a car full of flowers, polishing a tomato, building some extremely specific set pieces, or learning a new skill to make a “crazy idea” come to fruition. She believes that the key to life is knowing the best people—and is proud to be a part of a team of the best collaborators/artists and human beings!
