46 The Ferry in Freeboard White is a porcelain vase finished with glimmers of white gold luster. Hand-thrown to evoke the shape of a ship’s bow seen head-on, its surprising volume is perhaps unsurprisingly balanced — stable and weighty like the hull of a ship. The top of the vessel meanwhile is gently concave, opening the vase’s perfectly round mouth in the center of this shallow bowl — making it versatile for multiple creative uses, from desk organization to flower arrangement.
Hand-painted raised brushstrokes of wet porcelain adorn the outer surfaces of the vase — creating swirling, sculptural landscapes. Cresting their ridges are moments of white gold luster that catch the light whilst revealing something deeper within the material — secrets and stories beneath the white of a ship’s freeboard hull.
